Foot ulcers are a common complication in diabetics. According to statistics, 15 out of every 100 people with diabetes have foot ulcers. If not detected and cared for properly, ulcers can become severe and increase the risk of amputation.

1. Manifestations of diabetic foot ulcers

One of the first signs of foot ulcers in people with diabetes is watery discharge from the feet. This fluid stains socks and causes an unpleasant odor. Leg swelling, irritation, and redness are also common early symptoms of ulcers.

However, the symptoms of a diabetic ulcer are not always obvious. Many patients do not see any symptoms until the ulcer is severe. The most visible sign of a serious foot ulcer is the black necrotic tissue surrounding the ulcer. This is due to a lack of blood flow to the area around the ulcer. Cells and tissues gradually die, creating a hard black necrotic area, hiding the ulcer inside.

Diabetics should see a doctor if skin discoloration is detected. In particular, when the tissues turn black, this area is painful and hard, you should see a doctor as soon as possible. Diabetic foot ulcers are classified into 5 grades from mild to severe using the Wagner ulcer classification system:

Grade 0: No open lesions; Maybe the wound has already appeared and healed on its own

Grade 1: Abraded ulcer on the outside, without penetrating deep tissue inside

Grade 2: Deeper sores, exposing tendons, bones, or joints

Grade 3: Deep ulcer with abscess, osteomyelitis or tendonitis

Grade 4: Gangrene of forefoot (parts including metatarsal and toe bones)

Grade 5: Gangrene of the entire foot

Multidex ulcer treatment drug with main ingredients Maltodextrin, 1% ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is suitable in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers thanks to outstanding advantages such as:

- Maltodextrin is a hydrolyzed starchy polysaccharide and is widely used in pharmaceuticals for the following benefits: Wound healing due to its ability to promote the proliferation of fibroblasts. Maltodextrin has the ability to form a film, to adhere to the subcutaneous granulation tissue layer. This membrane has the effect of preventing water vapor from escaping into the environment. At the same time, it also creates a barrier against the invasion of pathogenic microorganisms. Besides, maltodextrin can be hydrolyzed into glucose, providing local nutrition, promoting natural healing.

- Vitamin C is present in ulcer medicine Multidex as an adjuvant to increase the healing effect. In this case, vitamin C has the role of promoting the synthesis of collagen fibers and increasing their strength. In addition, vitamin C is also an antioxidant, preventing the formation of free radicals and strengthening the body's immunity.
